Before downloading the APK
- Check that the link goes to the destination you expected.
- Confirm the current file name, version and publisher when those details are available.
- Make sure the phone has enough storage for both the download and installation.
- Update Android and the browser before dealing with an install error.
Install the APK
- Download the Android file and let Play Protect scan it.
- When Android asks, allow “Install unknown apps” only for the browser or file manager you are using.
- Open the downloaded APK and review the application name and permissions.
- Complete the installation, then turn off the temporary unknown-app permission.
- Open the app and deny any access that has no clear purpose.
A warning needs investigation. Turning protection off removes a device check and does not prove that the file is genuine.
Fix “App not installed”

| Existing package conflict | Check whether another version is already installed. Do not remove it until you know the account can be recovered. |

Update without losing access
Record the account-recovery method before replacing an older build. An update signed by a different developer may not install over the existing package. That difference is also a reason to recheck the source rather than uninstalling immediately.
Permissions that deserve extra attention
SMS, contacts, accessibility services, screen capture and device-administrator access can expose sensitive information. An entertainment app should explain why it needs any of them. If the reason is missing or unrelated, deny the request and remove the app.
